Welcome to the Charlotte-Metrolina Section of the Society of Women Engineers. We received our reinstatement charter on August 28, 1999. Our geographical boundaries include North Carolina zip codes 280-282 and South Carolina 297. We currently have 35 paid members. The Power of Diversity The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is the driving force that establishes engineering and technology as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. Founded in 1950, SWE is a not-for-profit educational and service organization with 300 collegiate and 100 professional sections nationwide, as well as members-at-large. It empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and be recognized for their life-changing contributions and achievements as engineers and leaders SWE Mission (Adopted in 1986) Stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, demonstrate the value of diversity.
